What This Tool Does

This generator builds a complete privacy policy for an iOS or Android app: what data you collect, why you collect it, who you share it with, and the specific disclosures Apple and Google require before they will list your app. It is built for indie developers and small teams shipping their first (or fifth) app who need a policy that is actually specific to a mobile app, not adapted from a website template that talks about "cookies and browser sessions."

It is not a lawyer, and it will not cover every regulatory edge case. For a standard app collecting standard data (analytics, crash reports, account info, ads), it generates the disclosures both stores check for. If your app handles health data, financial data, or operates in a heavily regulated industry, use this as a starting draft and have counsel review it.

How It Works

01

Enter your app details

App name, company/developer name, contact email, and website URL. These populate the identity and contact sections.

02

Select what data you collect

Check every category your app actually accesses: location, camera, contacts, analytics, ads, purchases, health data, and more.

03

Choose applicable regulations

Toggle GDPR, CCPA, COPPA, and App Tracking Transparency based on where your app is available and who uses it.

04

Review, copy, or download

The live preview updates as you type. Copy the text or download as .txt / .html and host it at a public URL.

Platform-Specific Guidance

Firebase Apps

If you use Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, or Firebase Cloud Messaging, select the "Analytics & Usage Data" category when generating your policy, and name Firebase explicitly in your final policy. Reviewers and users both expect third-party SDKs to be named, not just described generically as "analytics providers." Firebase collects device identifiers and crash data even on a free-tier project, so this applies whether or not you've enabled paid features.

Google Play (Data Safety form)

Google Play requires a separate Data Safety questionnaire in Play Console, and it must match your privacy policy point-by-point. If your policy mentions analytics but your Data Safety answers say "no data collected," Google will flag the mismatch. Fill out the Data Safety form first, then make sure every category you declared there is also reflected in the generated policy.

iOS Apps (App Tracking Transparency)

If your app uses the IDFA or any advertising SDK (AdMob, Meta Audience Network), enable the App Tracking Transparency section. It states whether you track users across other apps and websites, which must match what you declare in your Info.plist and App Privacy Nutrition Label. If you don't track users, still include the section; Apple reviewers look for an explicit statement either way.

Sample Output

An excerpt from a generated policy with Analytics and GDPR selected:

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT When you use MyApp, we may collect the following types of information: • analytics and usage data, including crash reports, performance metrics, device type, operating system version, and session duration 7. YOUR RIGHTS UNDER GDPR (European Users) If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): • Right of Access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. • Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): You may request deletion of your personal data.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this privacy policy generator really free?+

Yes. There is no signup, no credit card, and no limit on how many times you can generate or download a policy.

Does it cover Firebase and other third-party SDKs?+

The Analytics & Usage Data category covers Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, and similar SDKs. Name any additional third-party SDKs your app uses explicitly in the final text.

Where do I paste the privacy policy URL in App Store Connect?+

App Store Connect: App Information → Privacy Policy URL. Google Play Console: Policy & Programs → App Content → Privacy Policy.

Does this replace a lawyer?+

For a standard app collecting standard data categories, this covers the disclosures Apple and Google require. If your app has unusual data practices or operates in a regulated industry, consult a lawyer.

Does my privacy policy need to be hosted somewhere?+

Yes, both stores require a public URL, not just an in-app text block. See "Common Mistakes" below for hosting options.

Common Mistakes

01

Hosting the policy behind a login wall

Both stores require an unauthenticated, public URL. Free options: your own site, GitHub Pages, or a public Notion page.

02

Forgetting to name third-party SDKs

Firebase, AdMob, Crashlytics, RevenueCat, and similar SDKs should be named explicitly, not lumped into "third parties."

03

Data Safety form and policy text disagreeing

Google cross-references your Play Console Data Safety answers against your policy text. Keep them in sync.

04

Leaving out the account deletion process

If your app supports accounts, both the policy and the app itself need a clear deletion path.
